Firstly, I’m in no way an experienced kiter. My kiting experience prior to flying this kite has been some messing about with 2-line training kites and my Peter Lynn Venom (to which I’m not going to compare this kite). So, being completely new to 4-line fixed bridle kites and relatively new to kiting in general, I can’t really come with any great feedback on build quality and performance compared to other kites.

I can however as a newbie tell you what I liked about this kite.

The bag it comes in is a good quality rucksack with plenty of room for the kite, its accessories, drink bottles, snacks and such likes if you so wish.

The lines were already connected when I received the kite, but the numbered lines, bridles and handles would have made the set up almost fool proof.

The handles seemed robust, were well padded and nice to hold on to.

Since the arrival of a demo kite guarantees the absence of decent winds, I only had the chance to fly this kite in relatively low winds, ~7 knots. Although I would have wished for stronger winds it gave me a very good introduction to this kite.

Not having flown a kite like this before, I downloaded the user manual and followed it launching and flying the kite. Unfold the kite, unwind and untangle the lines, attach kite killers (which I found very comfy and easy to put on to my wrists), tilt the handles, a couple of steps backwards and up it goes – dead easy!

Once up, the kite was very easy to control. It can pretty much be flown like a 2-line kite to start with. I also found it smooth flying, and surprisingly powerful (I don’t really know what I had expected... it looked so tiny on the ground (and even smaller in the air) so the power in the relatively low wind took me by quite by surprise). So with out much prior experience I had it flying in figure eights, loops, in and out of the power zone and I loved every second of it.

For me this was a great kite to introduce me to fixed bridle kiting. I loved the simplicity of it; easy to set up, easy to launch and a breeze to fly. It definitely gets two thumbs up from me. As a beginner I can highly recommend this kite to other beginners.

A big thank you to Extreme Kites for letting me demo this beauty of a kite.
